"Silk Road Financial Future Leaders Pilot Program" Industry-Academia Research Activity: Guotai Haitong Securities

On the afternoon of July 2, faculty and students from the School of International Education and the School of Finance of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law visited Guotai Haitong Securities for an industry-academia exchange activity under the "Silk Road Financial Future Leaders Pilot Program". Participants included Gu Lulu, Head of the International Student Advisory Group at the School of Finance; Zhang Xizhi, Chinese Language Instructor from the School of International Education; Cao Chenlu, Graduate Program Secretary of the School of Finance; and 17 international students from the summer program.

The event commenced with a keynote lecture titled "The Growth of China's Capital Market and the Path to Personal Asset Allocation" delivered by Mr. Zhang Chaowei, Chief Investment Consultant of Guotai Haitong Securities. The lecture systematically reviewed the development trajectory of China's capital market over the past three decades, providing in-depth analysis on key topics such as the construction of a multi-tiered market system, the registration-based IPO reform, and the improvement of regulatory frameworks. Mr. Zhang also offered forward-looking insights into the development blueprint of China's capital market by 2035. Furthermore, he elaborated on the core logic and practical methodologies of asset allocation, sharing actionable wealth management advice that provided valuable guidance for participants in planning their financial futures. The lecture skillfully integrated theory with practice, combining macro and micro perspectives, and was well-received by attendees for its informative and thought-provoking content.

Following the lecture, Ms. Li Yuqi from Guotai Haitong Securities introduced the company's development history and market position to the faculty and students. As a leading securities firm in China, Guotai Haitong Securities has consistently ranked among the top three in the industry, maintaining leading positions in key operational indicators such as total assets and net profits.

During the interactive session, Mr. Zhang Chaowei provided professional responses to questions raised by international students, including cross-border investment strategies amid Sino-U.S. trade frictions and market trend analysis, fostering an engaging atmosphere for discussion.

The faculty and students also toured Guotai Haitong Securities' trading floor and investment research center, gaining firsthand understanding of the operational processes in securities business. Anastasiia, a student from Russia, remarked, "This activity gave me a fresh perspective on the institutional characteristics and developmental achievements of China's capital market. The positioning of the STAR Market in serving technological innovation is particularly impressive."
